It seems that the price for everything is just rising and rising. This even goes for our utility bills. In some ways, however, it is we who are to blame. This is why we’ve decided to share with you four simple ways by which you can save electricity and your money. Nevertheless, if you feel you’re doing whatever you can to save up on power, try getting help from Electricity Monster. They’ll help you get cheaper electricity in no time.

1. Turn Off Unnecessary Lights

This is common sense – if you’re not using electricity in a particular room or you simply don’t need it, then turn it off. Why bother with having it on when it serves you no purpose? It’s just going to add more to your electricity bill. This isn’t about being rich or poor. We all need to be more cautious about saving energy because this takes a toll on our natural resources; fossil fuels and other natural resources are still used widely to generate most of the electricity we use in our day to day lives. Furthermore, we recommend that you use as much natural light as you can and use LED bulbs to save energy at home.

2. Unplug Devices

Did you know that when your appliances are plugged in, even when they are in disuse, they are still sucking up power? This is what you call standby power or vampire power, and it does add to your monthly electricity bill as well. This is why we need to disown this practice. If you have a computer put on sleep, shut it down; if your blender is plugged in, unplug it; if your TV is plugged in, remove the switch. It doesn’t get any easier than this. Just unplug any devices that you aren’t using and voila – you’ll be saving yourself money while simultaneously reducing the havoc we put on our natural resources.

3. Save Hot Water

The best way to save electricity when it comes to hot water is only to use it when needed. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to heat a tank of water at home. It’s best to heat the tank when you need to use the hot water for a shower, shaving, washing the dishes, or for whatever purpose you need it for. When hot water is not required, simply turn it off. Furthermore, if you sense a hot water leak in your faucet, we urge you to get that fixed right away. Keep in mind that by following this tip you’re not only saving energy but water too.

4. Regularly Maintain Your Appliances

It’s critical to maintain your appliances as frequently as possible. This is because appliances that are not cared for may need to work extra hard to carry out their functions. For example, if your air conditioner has clogged filters, you would generally turn the temperature down to make cool the room faster. Hence it uses more energy. Therefore, be on the watch-out and make sure that you look after other appliances like dishwashers, dryers, even kitchen appliances.
