A shop vacuum is also known as a wet or dry vacuum. This is a highly versatile tool that can be used for many purposes. There is a big difference between shop vac vs dust collector. The shop vacuum can pick up debris, dirt as well as liquids. You can use this vacuum either in the house or in the garage for a number of ways. They can be used for construction. Did you know that you can use a shop vacuum for a number of DIY tasks? Well, this is possible.

In this article, we shall examine some different ways that you can use a shop vacuum. Here are 4 different ways to use this tool:

  1. You can clean the barbecue pit

We all love barbecuing and grilling all the time. Your grill needs to be cleaned thoroughly so that the barbecuing and the grilling can be perfect. You need to clean the ash and the debris off the grill before you can start your barbecuing. By use of the shop vacuum, you are at a better position to remove all the ash and the debris so the fire will breathe and the chef will be able to control the temperatures. With a fine dust filter, your shop vacuum will remove all the ash and clean the grill for a better barbecuing experience.

  1. Use it to pump out the flooded basement

Your shop vacuum is suitable for this purpose. Your wet/dry shop vacuum is equipped to carry out this role. If your basement is flooded due to leaking pipes, use the vacuum to drain the water. It has a drain in its collection drum that can be connected with an accessory pump to drain out the water. All you have to do is remove the drain cap and connect the vacuum to the pump accessory. When the valve is shut, the water in the basement is collected until the unit is full. You can then shut off the vacuum and open its valve and turn on the pump. When the water is pumped out, repeat the process until all the water in the basement is drained off.

  1. Clean the kitchen mess

Many are times when there is a mess in the kitchen that cannot be easily cleaned. Kitchen goop or the messes that contain liquids is common. When there are spillages of soggy cereals and even milk, your shop vacuum comes in handy. Insert the hose and choose a suitable nozzle for the cleaning process. You can now turn on the vacuum and lift away the kitchen food debris and generally all the kitchen goop. However, always ensure that you have thoroughly cleaned the vacuum after this process for better maintenance.

  1. Unclogging of sink drains

You may never have thought of using your shop vacuum for this purpose. We may all not have the right tools for unclogging our sink drains. With a wet/dry vacuum, you can easily do this. Just turn it on and suck the clog out of the sink. If your sink is full of water, you may need to drain out the water before you use the dry/wet vacuum. This helps to prevent splash back of water.
